What Is Urea Cream? How It Works and Why It's Used on Feet

What Is Urea?

Urea is a naturally occurring ingredient found in healthy skin. It plays an important role in keeping skin hydrated, which is why it's used as a key active ingredient in foot creams and mousses. In skincare, urea works in two ways: it draws moisture into the skin and helps lock it in, and it softens dry, rough and thickened skin, making it easier to treat and maintain.

It's one of the most widely used ingredients in professional foot care for good reason, it's effective, well-tolerated, and works on a wide range of common foot skin concerns.

Why Is Urea Used on Feet?

The skin on the soles of the feet has no oil glands, which means it can't self-lubricate the way skin on the rest of the body can. Combined with the pressure and friction of daily life, this makes feet particularly prone to dryness, hard skin, and calluses, exactly the conditions urea is most effective at treating.

That's why urea is a core ingredient across the Footlogix® range. All Footlogix® mousses use Dermal Infusion Technology® to deliver urea and other active ingredients deep into the skin rather than just sitting on the surface.

What Can Urea Cream Help With?

  • Dry skin — softens and rehydrates skin that feels tight, rough or flaky
  • Hard skin and calluses — helps soften thickened areas, making them easier to reduce
  • Cracked heels — deeply hydrates and locks in moisture to help eliminate deep cracks and fissures
  • Mature skin — helps restore hydration levels in skin that has lost moisture over time
  • Diabetic skin — gentle and effective for skin that needs careful, consistent daily care
